This Perma-Tune is a reproduction of the original ignition modules used on the Porsche 917 and many other storied Porsche race cars of the day. Spare aluminum extrusion was located in Germany and used to manufacture a limited number of these replicas. The 917903 Perma-Tune functions exactly as the original modules using digital electronics instead of analog.
ORIGINAL MOUNTING AND CONNECTIONS
Plug and play features eliminate the need for any wiring changes to the car and there is no need to drill holes for mounting. With simple, four wire installation there is no need to interpret complicated wiring diagrams. The terminals are clearly marked so you know exactly where each wire goes.
NO DIALS, NO SWITCHES, NO PROBLEMS
Installation is easy. There are no dials to turn, no switches to set and no chips to plug in. The 917903 Perma-Tune comes to you pre programmed and ready to be installed on the 12 cylinder, twin plug engine. You can always customize the module later using your laptop to make secure, reliable configuration changes through the built in USB connection. You can make changes to the RPM limiter, trim the advance curve to add more low RPM power, add multiple strike ignition to aid starting or increase the power output to reduce spark plug fouling. All using free software downloaded from the internet. Don’t want to do any programming? No problem. Programming services are available by sending your Perma-Tune to the factory or have the program customized for you remotely by a factory technician using your computer.
SMART CONNECTIONS
The connectors for the USB port, tachometer connection and kill switch connection are carried through the back of the ignition module into the engine bay. This keeps the cockpit exactly original looking. The kill switch connection allows the individual dash board ignition switches work the same way as with the original ignitions. The tachometer output connection is universal and will work with the stock tachometer or aftermarket electronic tachometer, shift light and RPM switch. The USB port connects to the Perma-Tune USB Smart Wire to allow program changes, diagnostic scans and updates.
